Applications are currently being accepted for a Student Services Technician position in the Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS) Department, located at San Diego City College. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Under the direction of the EOPS Director, use independent judgment in assisting with current program goals to support the access, retention and transfer of educationally and economically
disadvantaged students. Use innovative practices to advance department initiatives, as well as the College's Student Success and Equity efforts; compile and analyze data and prepare reports; assist with monthly budget analysis and budget projection; interpret college procedures and
academic policies and assist students in the program enrollment and to successfully reach their educational goals. This position will also provide training and work direction to student staff as needed and will work closely with San Diego City College students, staff, faculty, outside
agencies, and community partners.
Major Responsibilities:
- Process applications to assess students' eligibility into the program.
- Support retention goals by monitoring progress and providing follow-up services.
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of outreach and retention initiatives.
- Train and provide work direction to student staff.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, administrators, outside
agencies, and community partners.
- Compile data and prepare reports.
- Assist EOPS Director with budget monitoring and projection.

Two years of experience in a student services setting working directly with students, at least one year of experience working in an student retention program. High School diploma required; Bachelors degree preferred. Knowledge of: - Academic policies and procedures. - College rules, regulations, policies and procedures. - Admissions, enrollment, and transfer requirements. - Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. - Oral and written communications skills. - District organization, operations, policies and objectives. - Applicable sections of State Education Codes and other laws. Skills and Abilities to: - Review and interpret transcripts and test results. - Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including conducting presentations. - Effectively use technology within a college setting. - Work effectively and collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, administrators, outside agencies, and community partners. - Coordinate work of assigned personnel - Interpret and explain rules, regulations, procedures, policies and catalogs regarding student admission, transcript evaluation, prerequisite requirements and special regulations. - Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. - Update files and records. - Meet schedules and timelines. - Plan and organize work. - Maintain confidential and complex files and records. - Work independently with little direction. - Compile data and prepare reports. - Assist program directors with budget analysis and projection. - Assist program directors with planning and improvement of procedures. - Initiate actions and apply necessary department resources to accomplish tasks.

Licenses:


Pay Information:
Range 23- ($3,665.57 $5,851.08) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
