American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Reporting to the Director of Academic Computing, the Instructional Technology Specialist will facilitate the use of digital tools and methods in teaching and learning for online and face to face courses at AIC. Specific responsibilities include: Support of the use of multimedia technology for online and face to face classrooms and campus events; Developing best practices in the use of online tools; Training faculty and staff on the best use of Instructional Technology; Implement current and emerging learning technologies in the curriculum; Supporting audio and video productions. Flexible schedule required for evening and weekend support during key faculty support times.
  • Respond to help requests, document troubleshooting steps, and problem resolution details in ticket system. Develop on demand videos and documentation in the use of instructional technologies. Coordinate professional development activities in instructional technology.
  • Manage and mentor staff of student workers. Overseeing their training and scheduling to support instructional technology for online, classrooms, and campus events.
  • Produce media content, animations, simulations, visualizations, digital assets, and learning objects as needed to meet pedagogical goals.
  • Perform field service support and maintenance of all presentation technologies on campus. Triage and oversee repairs and maintenance of equipment that require 3rd party vendor support.
  • Collaborate with staff and vendors to design and/or upgrade audiovisual technology. Including but not limited to learning spaces and major campus building projects.
  • Performs other duties as required. Backup other members of the department as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Degree(s): Bachelor's degree Instructional Technology or related field with at least 4 years of professional experience, preferably in a K-12 1:1 technology program or similar Higher Ed technology support
  • Preferred Degree(s): Master's degree Instructional Technology or related field with at least 2 years of professional experience, preferably in a K-12 1:1 technology program or similar Higher Ed technology support
  • Required Field of Expertise: Excellent customer service and support. Experience in supporting online and classroom technology in a higher education environment with a Customer-focused orientation
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Certification in Media Technology gained through an industry organization (InfoComm, AVIXA, Adobe, OLC, etc..)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of and experience in online and classroom technology preferably in a K-12 1:1 technology program or Higher Ed
  • Skilled in the use of multimedia, video and audio production hardware and software
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems, audience response systems, lecture capture, video streaming, and other educational technologies
  • Ability to manage graduate and undergraduate student workers
  • Ability to organize and manage projects that involve a variety of stakeholders and timelines
  • Demonstrated teaching, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; regular reaching, pushing, pulling, bending of media/computer equipment as a part of this position.
  • Enthusiasm, interest, and flexibility in acquiring new or emerging technology skills.

WORK SCHEDULE

The Instructional Technology Specialist is a full-time, exempt level, benefit eligible position. Normal office hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. The hours of work are flexible to the needs of the department with occasional nights and weekends required.
