CREATE seeks to employ a full-time (100%) Academic Coordinator I or Academic Coordinator II to work closely with CREATE's Director, Associate Director, and Co-Director of Research and Evaluation to shape, frame, and conduct the Research and Evaluation plans for CREATE as a whole, and more specifically for the CREATE STEM Success Initiative (CSSI). The Academic Coordinator will consult on, design, oversee, and/or conduct research and evaluation projects relating to education, with a focus on K-20 STEM education. This AC will be:
A Ph.D. or Ed.D. is required for this position preferably with a degree in education, psychology, sociology, or related social science fields. A specialization or sub-specialization in quantitative methods and/or evaluation or evidence of work experience equivalent to such a specialization or sub specialization is required. In particular, expertise with research and evaluation design, methods, and analysis (with particular emphasis on quantitative techniques) is required.
Quantitative specifics: Must have strong skills with: a) manipulation techniques for both large and small data sets (e.g. cleaning, coding, composite formation, etc.); b) creation, implementation, and analyses of surveys and basic assessment tools; c) selecting and conducting appropriate statistical analyses (using both descriptive and inferential statistics); and d) written, visual, and oral interpretation of analysis results. Preferred candidates will also have experience with more advanced quantitative statistical techniques, including longitudinal analysis techniques, factor analysis/PCA, and use of HLM techniques.
Qualitative specifics: Must be proficient with the creation and use of interview and focus group protocols. Must have experience with observation techniques, including field notes and the creation and use of observation rubrics, including more time- or event- structured techniques. Must have ability to analyze qualitative data (interview, focus and observation) using both grounded and theoretical analyses.
Additional specifics: Must be able to write grant proposals, evaluation sections of grant proposals, and whole proposals focused on project evaluations and/or design-based research. This includes working with appropriate stakeholders (collaborating faculty, administration, funders, etc.) to develop and describe research/evaluation plans along with associated timelines, budgets, and deliverables as appropriate. Must be able to work collaboratively with faculty and administration and must be able to lead and/or coordinate teams of staff, undergraduate-level, and graduate-level researchers.
Schedule:
Must be available Monday-Friday during regular working hours (8:00am-5:00pm), may be required to work weekends/evenings to meet workload demands.
