Assistant Professor: Spanish Sociolinguistics

Description
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Literatures at San Diego State University is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Spanish sociolinguistics. Applications are sought from candidates with a doctorate in Applied Linguistics, Spanish/Hispanic Linguistics, Sociolinguistics with an emphasis on Spanish, or relevant field. Native or near-native proficiency in English and Spanish is required, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience and/or a research agenda focusing on one or more of the following areas: Spanish in the US, acquisition and pedagogy of Spanish as a heritage language, Spanish in the Southwest/borderlands. Experience in heritage language program coordination is a plus.
