Job Purpose
Teach courses, perform research, and fulfill service mission for the Department of Biology.

Essential Functions
Instruction of undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Biology, including microbiology courses for health science students and advanced courses in cellular and molecular microbiology. Develop an externally funded research program. Serve as advisor to undergraduate and graduate students, direct thesis research of M.S. and/or Ph.D. level graduate students, and provide service to the university.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. from an accredited institution in an area applicable to microbiology and cell biology. Ability to teach microbiology to health science students and advanced courses in molecular or cell biology. Potential to develop a funded research program. Potential to serve as an advisor to undergraduate and graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous university-level teaching experience. Research specialty is open and should complement those of current faculty. Mycologists using yeasts or other fungi as model systems to study aspects of cell and molecular biology are especially encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 2019.
