The School of Community Resources and Development at Arizona State University, part of the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions, invites applications for the position of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in Events Management and Community Engagement. This is a year-to-year, non-tenure track, 9-month full-time appointment. The appointment period is August 16 through May 15. This appointment is renewable on a year-to-year basis contingent upon the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and the needs of the university. The faculty member will oversee the special event management program (certificate and minor) and teach in the undergraduate programs of the School. The School of Community Resources and Development is located at ASU’s Downtown Phoenix campus, a dynamic hub of the multi-campus Arizona State University that provides a multitude of academic and professional connections for students. Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes and provide service to the School and the broader community.  Teaching may be face-to-face, online or a combination of formats.  The position also requires:

• Innovative curriculum programming with continuous improvement;
• Marketing and promotion of programs within and beyond ASU; 
• Relationship-building with community partners;
• Full participation in program assessment and accreditation activities.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in events management or related field (including but not limited to parks and recreation management, non-profit management, tourism management, community development, communications, business, education) from an accredited institution;
• Minimum five years relevant professional experience for assistant level;
• Minimum ten years relevant professional experience for associate level;
• Demonstrated evidence of community engagement;
• Demonstrated evidence of effective teaching in the classroom.

Desired Qualifications:

• Earned doctorate in events management or a related field (including but not limited to parks and recreation management, non-profit management, tourism management, community development, communications, business, education) from an accredited institution;

• Demonstrated evidence of effective teaching in online and/or university environments;
• Demonstrated prior experience in scholarship, program evaluation, and/or assessment related to events management;
• Appropriate professional certification; 
• Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
