SPEECH COMMUNICATION FULL TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY

 

Harper College seeks a dynamic instructor of speech communication for a full-time tenure-track position. Teaching responsibilities will focus on teaching public speaking (SPE101-Fundamentals of Oral Communication) May teach upper division communication courses (Interpersonal Communication, Small Group Communication, Intercultural Communication, Argumentation and Advanced Public Speaking) when needed. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to coach, plan and travel with Harper’s Award winning Forensics Team.

 

Communication Arts is a growing department of 7 professors who teach speech, communication, mass communication, journalism, and theater. We are building a modern media lab that reflects the changing landscape of journalism. The department offers extracurricular activities that include; WHCM Radio, The Harbinger Newspaper, Speech Team, Debate, and the Harper Ensemble Theater Company.

 

We are looking for candidates who believe in the basic communication course and are excited about the opportunity to teach the course, develop it, and assess it.

 

 

Requirements: 

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Communication or Speech
  • Post-secondary teaching experience
  • Experience teaching in the community college setting, experience using technology in the classroom, alternative classroom delivery modalities, curriculum development and assessment are preferred.
  • Candidates with experience teaching Interpersonal Communication, Small Group Communication, Intercultural Communication, Argumentation and Advanced Public Speaking are preferred.
  • Candidates with Forensics experiences (Coaching, Traveling and Administrating) are preferred.
