Assistant Professor of Dance

Job Summary

The Department of Theatre in Columbus State University's College of the Arts invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Dance. The start date for this position is August 1, 2019 with possible summer employment.

Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities include: teaching several levels of technique in ballet, modern, contemporary/jazz, and musical theatre dance, as well as dance composition, performance, and dance history. In addition the successful candidate will be expected to choreograph for concerts, as well as, musical theatre productions. All tenure-track faculty at Columbus State University participate in recruiting, advising, and mentoring. Service activities at the department, college, and university level appropriate to rank are also required. The selected candidate will collaborate with departmental faculty to expand curricular offerings from a minor in dance to a future major in dance with the potential of creating a Department of Dance. Therefore, leadership potential is a must.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a terminal degree in Dance or; teaching or equivalent professional experience, choreography experience, musical theatre choreography experience, familiarity with dance in liberal arts curriculum for undergraduates, and administrative experience. A minimum of 18 hours of graduate level course work in dance is also required.
