Minimum Qualifications :

• Master's degree in an academic area represented at MSCC.

• Three years' teaching experience or equivalent at the post-secondary level.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution/university.

General Function:

The Campus Academic Assistant Dean will work with the Deans and the Curriculum Chairs to provide leadership for academic courses and programs offered at the McMinnville campus of Motlow State Community College. In consultation with the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, t he Assistant Dean will have responsibility for management and support of academic programs on the McMinnville campus. The Academic Assistant Dean will report to the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Deans , provide measurable improvements in the performance of students in all academic programs offered on the McMinnville campus on the Quality Assurance and Performance Funding metrics established by TBR.
  • Support all activities related to Dual Enrollment within the McMinnville Campus service area.
  • In c ollaboration with local industry, develop partnerships with the industry leaders in the McMinnville service area including conducting research on a minimum of two new programs each year and, if approved, provide an implementation plan to the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs.
  • Support the implementation of the use of emerging and mobile technologies for classroom instruction .
  • Assist in the recruitment of students for all academic programs in the McMinnville service area.
  • Oversee activities to meet the goals of the MSCC strategic plan and TBR initiatives on the McMinnville campus.
  • Manage budget for McMinnville academic programs.
  • In consultation with the Deans and Curriculum Chairs, oversee academic curriculum review, revision, and development, course scheduling, identification of resources, and course/program evaluation.
  • Maintain and enforce college policies and procedures.
  • In collaboration with the Deans and curriculum chairs, recruit the employment of both full-time and part-time faculty and ensure that credentials comply with licensing and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with state mandated performance measures and utilize data for program improvement.
  • Seek grant-funding sources related to academic programs on the McMinnville campuses.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, supervise and provide performance evaluations for faculty and staff on the McMinnville campus.
  • Assist students and faculty regarding compliance with TBR and Motlow State Community College policies.
  • Represent the college at regional, state, and national meetings to maintain professional growth and represent the college.
  • Serve on college committees.
  • Provide documentation and support for SACSCOC institutional accreditation.
  • Serve as campus contact for formal student complaints and grade appeals.
  • Supervise and monitor attendance reporting, grade reporting, and other required reporting for faculty on the McMinnville campus.
  • Coordinate faculty-advising activities on the McMinnville campuses.
  • When appropriate, assist with co-curricular, learning support, learning lab, and student organization activities on the McMinnville campus.
  • Plan and organize adjunct orientation, training, and recruitment activities on the McMinnville campus.
  • Assist with academic initiatives and reporting required by TBR.
  • Assist with duties and responsibilities associated with the Academic Division.
  • Other responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs.
