Maintenance Mechanic Lead (Internal Only)


Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Mechanic Lead. This is an internal posting to which only current SU employees are eligible to apply.

Primary Job Duties: Under general supervision leads a team of maintenance mechanics in the performance of semi-skilled general maintenance and/or preventative maintenance work, performs more difficult semi-skilled assignments in building construction and maintenance. Performs comprehensive preventative maintenance and repairs to HVAC systems, motors, pumps, air handling units, lighting systems, basic plumbing and electrical and associated equipment. Perform routine inspections of building systems, resolve or report problems to the proper trade for resolution. Ensure adequate supplies, materials and equipment are maintained in assigned areas. Investigate issue requiring immediate attention. Prepare accountability logs and create monthly scheduled for employees. Lead and train unskilled and semi-skilled personnel. Assist in projects with building trades personnel and contractors for repair work or new instillation/construction.

Minimum Qualifications: Four years related work experience, three years of which must have been in commercial building operations and maintenance. Valid class C or equivalent non-commercial driver's license with 5 points or less. Valid certified pool operator's license (CPO) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.

Knowledge of general mechanical principles, building construction and maintenance repair practices and techniques, safety practices and procedures, knowledge of and skill in the use of required tools and equipment, ability to make adjustments, repairs and replacements to building fixtures and mechanical equipment, strong analytical, interpersonal and customer service skills, ability to read and write, communicate effectively, prioritize, plan and schedule work. Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma/GED; CPO certification.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, State position with a full benefits package. Starting salary is $38,204 annually, which is approximately $18.32 per hour. The primary schedule is tentatively M-F 7:00am-3:30pm with occasional weekends required. This position is considered essential and will be called upon to provide emergency coverage when necessary. Work schedule or area may vary based on the needs of the University.
