Job Purpose
Teach the trumpet studio and direct the trumpet ensemble. Fulfill service mission for the School of Music.

Essential Functions
Teach the trumpet studio and direct the trumpet ensemble. Supervise inventory and maintenance of the department's trumpet equipment. Rehearse and perform as Principal Trumpet with the resident Bryan Symphony Orchestra and Brass Arts Quintet. Administer all aspects of the TTU trumpet program. Recruitment of students (especially Trumpet Majors). Other responsibilities, such as classroom instruction in core music courses may be assigned as determined by candidate's qualifications and departmental needs. Build and maintain professional relationships with public school music teachers. Be an active participant in the School of Music. Represent and serve as an advocate for the School of Music, the University, and to the greater public.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree or Doctorate or ABD from an accredited institution in a related field. Candidates without a Doctorate or ABD must have significant professional experience in performing and teaching as a trumpeter.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a performer in solo, orchestral, and chamber or quintet settings. Experience as a teacher at the University level, in private instruction and/or in the public schools. Evidence of recruiting. Participation in Regional, National, and International Conferences.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Full time, nine month, tenure-track position to begin August 2019.
