Assistant Professor of Theatre

Job Summary

The Department of Theatre in Columbus State University's College of the Arts invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Theatre. The start date for this position is August 1, 2019.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: teaching courses in theatre at the undergraduate level, with emphasis in theatre history and criticism. Additional courses according to the candidate's experience may include (but are not limited to) Script Analysis, Introduction to Acting and Directing, or Playwriting.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to active learning and student engagement and must have and maintain an active research agenda and/or artistic endeavor. All tenure-track faculty at Columbus State University participate in undergraduate advising and mentoring. Service activities at the department, college, and university level appropriate to rank are also required.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Theatre History and/or Performance Studies from a regionally accredited institution; excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills; a commitment to high impact thinking and learning; a promise in scholarly research or creative work with evidence of prior publications/creative scholarship, as well as evidence of successful university teaching.

Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
