We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Representative to join our Student Financial Services (SFS) team at Simmons University. Reporting to the Bursar, the Accounts Receivable Representative is responsible for the billing and collection of tuition, residence charges and related fees for both traditional students and online programming. As the primary point of for student financial accounts, the Accounts Receivable Representative will assist and support students and their parents with understanding their rights and responsibilities regarding their financial obligations to the University.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping people and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, parents, faculty and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee accurate billing practices for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as online programs including preparing hard and soft copies of student billing statements;
  • Manage the timely collection and follow-up of all assigned accounts;
  • Generate invoices for third party payers;
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies;
  • Process daily transactions;
  • Administer and monitor monthly payment plans or agreements;
  • Monitor aging balances, identifying accounts of concern and placing delinquent accounts with a third party agency when applicable;
  • Serve as a liaison for the Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) by maintaining records, adjusting accounts, communicating procedures and deadlines, and resolving discrepancies;
  • Provide customer service to students and parents regarding the details of student accounts and financial aid;
  • Perform related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience;
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills;
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
