Biology

Type of Appointment:

Nine month, full-time Faculty appointment beginning August 16, 2019

 

Responsibilities:

Primary emphasis on teaching college level Biology. Teaching schedule includes fall and spring semesters teaching an average of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester. Teaching assignments may include a mix of day, evening, and weekend classes taught in a variety of formats including face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online. The selected candidate will have office hours each week, participate in course and program development, advise students, assist and oversee adjunct faculty, participate in assessment, and serve on college committees.

 

Qualifications:

Required: A Master's degree in either Biology or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in biology. Teaching experience in higher education. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Preferred: Doctorate degree in Biology. Experience teaching research strategies and critical thinking. Experience using and assessing student learning outcomes at the course and/or program level. Commitment to collaboration, innovation, creativity, and applied learning. Online teaching experience. Background in online course design and demonstrated expertise in the use of technology to support student learning.

 

Hiring Range: Faculty appointments are usually at the rank of instructor or assistant professor. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
