Housing Assistant-Residence Life-Man Campus & RiverPark Campus

Job Summary

The Residence Life Department is currently seeking energetic and hardworking housing assistants for Residence Life starting Fall 2019 semester. A housing assistant is the closest and the most vital link with residents of each area when our Residence Life offices are closed. The housing assistant serves as a liaison between the Department of Residence Life and the students. This selected candidate will directly report to the Residence Life Coordinator for each housing area.

Responsibilities

Housing Assistants are required to work assigned shifts during academic breaks such as fall break, spring break, etc; attend all scheduled training programs prior to and throughout each academic semester; administrative responsibilities to include duty logs, incident reports, mediations, etc; bi-weekly staff meetings (1 hour plus bi-weekly time commitment). Meeting days and times will be decided by your RLC at the beginning of each semester. Staff meeting times will be based on staff member's academic schedules only. Non-academic commitments will not be considered; housing Assistants are required to perform duty rounds as communicated by RLC and written in training manual; additional duty assignments may be required by the RLC to include, but not limited to hanging flyers, responding to emergencies, mediations, duty logs, incident reports, etc; housing Assistants are required to answer 24 hour on call phone during assigned shift.; must follow all policies and procedures in the Student Handbook and the Community Guide; be cognizant of current students, building and campus issues; have knowledge resources available on campus for students; maintain frequent communication with Residence Life staff and respect confidentiality concerning content and process of such discussions; housing Assistants must successfully perform the general requirements of the position as stated in the Housing Assistant training manual and communicated by the Residence Life staff; role Model a standard of personal conduct commensurate with Residence Life standards and the selected candidate will provide front desk operations for our 24 hour help desk to include, but not limited, answering telephones with proper etiquette; filing paperwork, stocking supplies, operating copier and fax machines, and maintaining the front desk and storage areas as needed; assist students during check-ins, check-outs, and room change processes; assist students with lockouts and maintenance, cable, or internet issues; explain and enforce Residence Life policies and procedures; assist in various areas within Residence Life; and perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate should have prior experience of living in housing and must currently be enrolled at CSU. The selected candidate should also possess excellent customer service skills as well as written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

A two semester commitment (Fall and Spring) is preferred.

Proposed Salary

The salary is $8.00 per hour. This position can work up to 19 hours per week.

Conditions of Employment

To be considered for a Housing Assistant position, the applicant must be a current Columbus State University student, taking at least six (6) credit hour courses per semester. "INDEED2019job"

Housing Assistant's must live in Residence Life during employment.

All candidates must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA at the beginning of Fall 2019 semester and maintain 2.5 cumulative and semester GPA while employed.

To be considered for a Housing Assistant position, the applicant must be in academic, financial, and judicial good standing with Columbus State University and Residence Life.

All housing assistants are required to have a meal plan. All meal plans are the financial responsibility of the student.

Work Schedule

All shifts will be assigned according to class schedules and availability.

Monday-Friday available shifts are as follows for every housing area:

5:30 pm - 11:30 pm

11:00 pm - 4:00 am

3:30 am - 8:30 am

Saturday and Sunday available shifts are as follows for every housing area:

8:00 am - 1:00 pm

12:30 pm - 6:00 pm

5:30 pm - 11:30 pm

11:00 pm - 4:00 am

3:30 am - 8:30 am
