Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as DSO and ARO and maintain University compliance with SEVIS regulations.

Advise current international students one-on-one and in groups regarding matters pertaining to F and J status including Optional Practical Training, Curricular Practical Training, change of status, etc.

Participate and present in international student programs including orientation of students covering a full range of issues involving Social Security, the Department of Motor Vehicles, insurance, F-1/J-1 regulations, employment authorization, tax, etc.

Serve as the initial contact for the Office of Global Initiatives by receiving and responding to student emails and phone calls once students have been admitted into the University.

Create and maintain the international alumni database.

Coordinate with the School of Nursing concerning health information and vaccinations.

Collaborate and maintain partnerships with offices across the AUM campus that are engaged in international affairs to benefit international student initiatives.

Perform activities/ updates involving student databases (e.g., Banner and Xtender).

Update and maintain Department of Homeland Security's SEVIS system of operations for current students.

Assist with the recruitment of international students.

Develop procedures to ensure international students and visitors enjoy the full range of benefits associated with F/J status.

Anticipate and prevent problems impacting international student satisfaction, legal status, and Visa status benefits in order to retain students.

Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, arrival-departure, retention, etc.

Participates with International Educational Community Outreach.

Create newsletters while collaborating with the Office of Advancement.

Serve as the program coordinator for the International Alumni Induction ceremony.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of assigned program or function
Knowledge of acceptable advising and/or recruiting techniques and practices
Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations
Knowledge of SEVIS - the International Student and Exchange Visitor Information System
Knowledge of F-1/J-1 Visa regulations
Knowledge of state and federal immigration laws
Knowledge of related computer software used for creating publications (i.e.: newsletters, handbooks, etc.)
Interpersonal skills
Oral communication skills

Ability to coordinate events
Ability to process, review, and evaluate student documents

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in work related to international student advising.
