Position Summary:

This position reports to the President and provides leadership and oversight to direct the college-wide institutional effectiveness program that includes strategic planning, outcomes assessment, research information to support data informed decision making and planning by the President and Cabinet, and compliance with accreditation requirements. Responsible for the development, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of analytical data related to academic, student and administrative programs, data supportive of educational master planning, student learning outcomes, student success measures, and required internal and state/federal external reports. The VP works with various constituencies of the college such as administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, the Board of Regents, and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission to measure institutional effectiveness and other information as requested. Provides support for program and college accreditation efforts, and is the college liaison with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversees the collection and distribution of information for institutional planning and for external agencies (IPEDS, National Clearinghouse, THEC, TBR). Monitors the college's compliance with criteria established by appropriate state, regional, and/or national accreditation and licensing organizations.

Provides support to academic and educational units with annual planning, budgeting, assessment and evaluation/program review to ensure the College fulfills its vision, goals, and mission under the governance of the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Provides support to academic programs seeking programmatic accreditation from discipline specific accrediting agencies.

Develops and maintains up to date instruments, software and integrity measures necessary to collect, manage, and report college data.

Serves in leadership role to ensure college remains in compliance with all SACS COC accreditation standards.

Works with faculty in developing new academic program proposals and prepares the low producing academic program report and academic program monitoring report.

Oversight responsibility for the Quality Assurance Report.

Prepares annual updated edition of the Institutional Effectiveness Handbook and College Factbook, maintains annual IERPA master planning calendar ensuring that unit plans keep to schedule. Works with faculty and administrative personnel with the development of student and
program learning outcomes, and coordinates the development and implementation of appropriate assessment measures. Conducts training sessions for department heads and provides leadership with the development of assessment and benchmark measures.

Chairs the Strategic Planning Committee (Executive Council), maintains the five-year strategic plan, and coordinates the strategic planning calendar and operational plan. Responsible for the production of strategic plan and assessment and benchmark measures.

Coordinates/produces data for internal research, assessment and evaluation projects. Oversees the production of reports such as annual accomplishments and institutional effectiveness plans.

Serves as: Reporting Liaison with Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee Higher Education Commission Planning/Research Personnel; Liaison to Southern Association of College and Schools.

Assists in Internal Assessment procedures and the preparing/submission of appropriate internal and external surveys.

Actively participates as a member of the President's Cabinet.

Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications: Master's degree. A minimum of five years related work experience with supervisory responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a mathematics/analytical science or assessment field. A proven track record of successful, professional leadership experience in a higher education environment. Experience with institutional effectiveness and regional accreditation compliance. Demonstrated skills in data gathering and statistical analysis.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Excellent computer and analytic skills with knowledge of relational databases, outcome measures and assessments, research design methodologies, strategic plan development, and institutional effectiveness processes. Ability to manage sensitive information with the highest degree of confidentiality; well-developed interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills; exceptional customer services skills; and possess the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, excellent management and team building skills, and top-notch organizational skills.

Pay Rate: 74,250.00 - 96,520.00 annual salary depending on experience
