ABOUT AIC

American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Support the development and growth of online and blended learning. Consult and train faculty and staff on pedagogy and the use of distance education and face to face tools; assist with the development and implementation of standards based on best practices; assist with planning and coordinating the delivery of course materials; work with subject matter experts/faculty to ensure courses are suited to the online learner and meet presentation and instructional design standards.
  • Facilitate group, individual, and online training workshops, as well as develop on demand videos and documentation in the use of instructional technologies. Including but not limited to, Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Outcomes, Blackboard Ally, as well as other online and classroom-based instructional technologies.
  • Administer the Blackboard Learn LMS, and provide training and support for it and other systems used to facilitate learning. Respond to help requests, document troubleshooting steps, and problem resolution details in ticket system. Flexible schedule required for evening and weekend support during key faculty support times.
  • Work closely with faculty to embed outcomes assessment methods into instruction including the use of Blackboard Outcomes using instructional design principles.
  • Partner with faculty to evaluate, select and implement new and current learning technologies and digital content in the curriculum.
  • Performs other duties as required. Backup other members of the department as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Degree(s): Master's degree Instructional Design or related field with at least 2 years of professional experience, preferably in higher education
  • Preferred Degree(s): PhD in Instructional Design or related field with at least 2 years of professional experience, preferably in higher education
  • Required Field of Expertise: Background in training, staff development, and/or online teaching in higher education
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Certification in instructional design processes/principles gained through an industry organization (Sloan-C, OLC, etc.)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of and experience in instructional design processes and principles in a Higher Ed environment
  • Strong experience with the support and administration of a learning management system, preferably Blackboard
  • Skilled in the use of multimedia, graphics, and web authoring software
  • Ability to organize and manage projects that involve a variety of stakeholders and timelines
  • Demonstrated teaching, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Experience with outcomes assessment methods
  • Experience with e-portfolio, audience response, lecture capture, video streaming, and other educational technologies

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, exempt level, benefit eligible position. Normal office hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. The hours of work are flexible to the needs of the department. Flexible schedule required for evening and weekend support during key faculty support times.
