Job Summary

The Department of Modern and Classical Languages at Columbus State University has an immediate need for a Lecturer of French.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: teaching five classes per semester at the Elementary and Intermediate levels; complying with the teaching requirements of the department; and participating in select professional development and service activities. The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration; promote and engage in practices that support the university's focus on student engagement and active learning; and demonstrate exceptional ability to function as part of a team with university faculty.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned MA in French language and/or literature from a fully accredited institution. (A Ph.D. in French language and/or literature is preferred). The successful candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to work effectively as a team member; evidence of teaching quality through references or other sources; a commitment to promoting and supporting active learning; the ability to use technology for synchronous and asynchronous instruction; and a commitment to high impact thinking and learning.

Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
