Shuttle Driver

Reports To: Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Student Affairs Administrative Assistant

Position Type: Part-time, Staff

Standard Hours: Variable Hour

Classification: Support Staff

Summary:

The primary responsibility of the shuttle driver will be to transport students to and from destinations for official business, off-campus classes, class trips and recreation and entertainment opportunities. Drivers will also assist with parking shuttles for special events sponsored by Keuka College.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe and efficient transportation in accordance with Keuka College safety regulations and policies.
  • Maintain valid NY State Class C Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement and a New York State medical certificate.
  • Responsible for all driving assignments scheduled through Student Affairs. Any driver changes must be coordinated through Student Affairs.
  • Driver is responsible for proper completion and handling of paperwork and fuel receipts.
  • Conduct pre and post inspections of vehicles, clean bus after each trip and report any mechanical issues to Facilities.
  • Inform passengers of rule infractions such as smoking or inappropriate behavior and the consequences for such behavior.
  • Report any irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations to Campus Safety.
  • In the event of an accident or passenger illness, contact the appropriate emergency agency and cooperate with responders.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.


Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Drivers must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  2. This position requires extensive automobile travel throughout the assigned territory; therefore, a valid driver's license, and successful DMV check is required. No more than one (1) recordable violation in the past 3 years.
  3. Must hold and maintain a valid New York State Class C driver's license with passenger endorsement along with at least 3 years' experience.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  5. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
  6. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  7. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.


Physical Requirements:
  • Driver must be flexible and willing to work weekdays, weekends and evenings when called upon.
  • Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, bend, reach, climb stairs, and grasp.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
