THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO (UCSD), DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS (http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu), AND RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF SAN DIEGO (http://www.rchsd.org) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking to fill the unified position of Chief of our Division of Respiratory Medicine at UCSD (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/pediatrics/Divisions/respiratory) and Medical Director for the Respiratory Medicine Service at RCHSD (https://www.rchsd.org/programs-services/pulmonary-respiratory-medicine/team/) committed to all aspects of academic research, clinical care and teaching.

RCHSD, with 551 beds has expanded its acute inpatient pavilion and is now the largest children's hospital on the west coast serving about one million children for their medical and surgical care. The UCSD Department of Pediatrics, with over 265 faculty, has become a national leader in Pediatric Research with over $75 million in annual research revenues spanning basic, translational and clinical investigations.

Candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD, demonstrable leadership and/or Medical/Clinical Director experience, and substantial experience in the sub-specialty of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine, and be board certified/board eligible and have the ability to obtain a California Medical License. The candidate must have a strong track record and national reputation as a leader in academic research, as demonstrated by high quality publication record and sustained competitive extramural funding.

The preferred candidate will have experience in inpatient and outpatient Respiratory Medicine clinical care, the successful completion of a 3-year accredited fellowship in Pediatric Respiratory Medicine, and several years of clinical and/or unit/division leadership in an academic medicine setting.

Series will include 50% Ladder Rank/50% In-Residence with qualified candidates with secured extramural funding (with up to 0.50 state funding potentially offered), and the potential for 100% Ladder Rank (1.00 state funding). The Appointment will be at Associate or Full Professor ranks; the series and level of appointment will be determined and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
