The Glycobiology Research and Training Center (GRTC) at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student bodies and invites applications from outstanding candidates for a Ladder Rank tenured faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level, who are interested in a leadership role as an Associate Director in the GRTC, working with the current Co-Directors.

The GRTC is an internationally recognized UC San Diego Organized Research Unit with a 19-year track record of facilitating and enhancing research, training and collaboration among UC San Diego faculty who study the molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry of glycans, and their roles in health and disease. The Center originated and now updates the core textbook Essentials of Glycobiology, and also organizes the well-known San Diego Glycobiology Symposium.

The Center will consider candidates who are pursuing innovative research in any aspect of glycoscience, ranging from chemical to clinical. In addition to participating in leadership activities, job duties include maintaining a forward looking and successful research program, research training of graduate and undergraduate students, participation in the educational and outreach missions of the unit, and service activities related to the relevant Departments and the GRTC.

Candidates must have a postdoctoral degree in the areas of biomedical sciences and related fields, at least 5 years of experience as an independent researcher, and a strong track-record of garnering research funding.

Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor level. Series will include 100% Ladder Rank. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
