Professor (All Ranks) Microfabrication and Nanotec

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering (ECEE) seek applicants for tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in Microfabrication and Nanotechnology with a focus on theory, design and experimental implementation.  The originality and potential impact of each candidate’s work are higher priorities than the specific area of research.

We seek applicants who will contribute to our programs and will leverage investments by the University in promoting interdisciplinary teaching and research.  These investments include centers and institutes including the  Connection One Research Center (https://connectionone.org/wp), the Center for Wireless Information Systems and Computational Architectures (https://wisca.engineering.asu.edu/), ASU Lightworks (http://asulightworks.com), ASU Nanofab (https://nanofab.engineering.asu.edu), the SenSIP Center (https://sensip.engineering.asu.edu), the QESST Engineering Research Center (https://qesst.asu.edu), the Global Security Institute (http://gsi.asu.edu), and the Biodesign Institute (http://biodesign.asu.edu) along with academic programs across the University.  The current openings are intended to broaden our expertise and expand collaborations.

Faculty members are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses, advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and undertake service activities. ASU strongly encourages transdisciplinary collaboration and use-inspired, socially-relevant research.

Appointments will be at the assistant, associate or full professor rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments, beginning on or after August 16, 2019.  Although the tenure home may be in any of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering (ECEE) is currently the most involved in the interest areas of this search.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D. or terminal degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field by the time of appointment
  • Demonstrated evidence of research capability
  • Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence as appropriate to the candidate’s rank

Desired qualifications:

  • A record of acquiring external funding and publication in top-tier journals/conferences
  • A commitment to participating in and leading transdisciplinary teams addressing problems of high societal impact

Review of applications will begin on December 10th, 2018; if not filled, reviews will continue on the 1st and 15th of each month until the search is closed.  To apply, the candidates will be asked to submit the following through their Interfolio Dossier: cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research statement, and contact information for three references.  Please go to: https://hiring.engineering.asu.edu/ to apply for this position. For more information or questions about this position, please contact the search committee chair, Professor Michael Goryll at michael.goryll@asu.edu.
