Data Science and Computational Mathematics - Assistant Professor

The department is seeking outstanding scholars in some of the new emerging areas of Data Science. We seek scholars with a demonstrated potential for excellent research and external funding, and commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The successful person will have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or related fields with strong research record/potential in the areas of Data Science, such as sparse representation of big data sets, functional spaces suitable for big data and mathematical foundations of sparse machine learning, where mathematics plays a major role. Also, the person will help advance the university's new initiative in Big Data Analytics and Data Science.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
The successful person will have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or related fields and serve the university's new initiative in Big Data Analytics and Data Science. We seek candidates with knowledge in programming languages such as MatLab and Python and abilities to teach courses in Machine Learning and Optimization Methods related to Data Science.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
The successful person will have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or related fields and serve the university's new initiative in Big Data Analytics and Data Science.
