Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Athletic Training


The School of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Services at Salisbury University is accepting applications for the position of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Athletic Training-Clinical Education Coordinator. This is a full-time, 12-month position with full State benefits.

Primary Job Duties: Teach courses in area of expertise within the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program and the School of Health Sciences. Work cooperatively with the Medical Director, Athletic Training Program Chair, preceptors and all persons involved with the Athletic Training Program.

Serve as liaison for the Athletic Training Program Chair to the preceptors and athletic training students; approve all clinical education sites for athletic training students completing clinical education experiences. Initiate and maintain clinical site affiliation agreements, coordinate clinical education assignments for athletic training students, and maintain athletic training students' clinical education files. Initiate staff development and in-service training for all preceptors in cooperation with the Athletic Training Program Chair and Affiliate Site Coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in related field with membership in athletic training professional organization(s); Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Training for a minimum of five (5) years, must obtain state of Maryland Athletic Training License upon hire; Five (5) years of experience in full-time clinical practice; Two (2) years of experience teaching in a CAATE-accredited athletic training program; Two (2) years of experience as a preceptor for a CAATE-accredited athletic training program. Candidates must demonstrate an effective teaching style that supports a diverse student body. Computer proficiency, strong written and verbal communication, and excellent organizational skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Six (6) or more years of experience in full-time clinical practice; Three (3) or more years of experience teaching in a CAATE-accredited athletic training program; Three (3) or more years of experience as a preceptor for a CAATE-accredited athletic training program; Proficiency in the use of web-based survey systems; History of service as a Clinical Education Coordinator or experience educating preceptors in an athletic training program; BLS instructor status, American Heart Association; Graduate from a CAATE accredited program.
