Research Fellow III/IV

*This is a one year limited-term appointment and continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funding*

The Canine Performance Sciences (CPS) Program within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Research Fellow. The Research Fellow will work with other CPS scientists and collaborators across a variety of scientific disciplines on a large research and development portfolio.

Assists in others' and conducts original research to include planning, maintaining or completing research programs and/or projects involved in the discovery of new knowledge, techniques, and concepts which require advanced level scientific/research knowledge, skills and abilities following relevant policies, procedures, regulations and laws. Duties include but are not limited to:

1. Provide leadership and scientific expertise in the planning and implementation of major projects, services, facilities, and activities.

2. Develop advanced canine technology ideas, and guide their development into a final product or new approaches to research.

3. Carry out complex, remote (i.e., requiring frequent or extended travel) or unique assignments important to the advancement of the field.

4. Develop and follow project budgets and contracts according to University, state, and federal policies.

5. Provide expert consultation and collaboration in the field of canine performance

6. Author, co-author and contribute to published articles, presentations, or scientific papers

7. Identify and pursue research and development funding opportunities.

8. Supervise staff and resources to meet program objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
Entry into applicant pool requires a Doctoral degree from an accredited institution; four (4) years of experience in research practices and protocols to include experience in designing, planning, executing and managing others in the conduct of research projects; data analysis; interpretation; writing reports and scholarly manuscripts; and a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to selection.

Successful candidates will have education/experience in at least one discipline including, but are not limited to: behavioral and/or cognitive sciences, engineering, sensors, biomedical sciences, neuroscience, chemistry, biology (specializing in canids), animal sciences, and other related fields.

Candidates must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Candidates who have law enforcement, military, or other security experience and/or knowledge of operations are desired.
