Graphic Designer - Center for Applied Brain and Cognitive Sciences, School of E


This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.

The Center for Applied Brain and Cognitive Sciences is engaged in interdisciplinary research aimed at understanding, monitoring, predicting, and optimizing the perceptual and cognitive performance of individuals and small teams engaged in real-world tasks with high-stakes outcomes. We are a state of the art multidisciplinary research center which uses a variety of software packages from robotics, electrophysiology, to virtual reality.

The Center for Applied Brain and Cognitive Sciences seeks a Graphic Designer to work on creating graphic environments, assets and realistic/naturalistic animations for large-scale 3D Virtual and Augmented Reality applications (3D modeling, texturing, rigging, Unity and C# development, etc.) in support of experiments in the CABCS Soldier and Small Unit Ambulatory Virtual Environments Lab, a state-of-the-art research facility using Unity 3D and Unreal engines.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Arts, Video Arts, Multimedia Design or related field.
  • Solid grounding in core art foundations and a genuine enthusiasm for 3D art.
  • Practical knowledge of current and future 3D art techniques.
  • Proven ability in creating 3D characters/animations.
  • Proven ability in creating 3D environment/props.
  • Working portfolio demonstrating abilities in 3D art from initial explorations through to finished retopologized, textured and posed renders.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to work and thrive in a highly iterative design environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Practical experience with at least one of the following tools: 3D Studio Max, Octane, Renderer, Adobe suite, Houdini, Blender and/or Maya.
  • Coursework in CGA/3D/graphic/media design, computer science, computer-aided engineering, etc.
  • Unity 3D and/or C# programming experience.
