Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (HS Clin, Clin X, In-Res) - Radiation Oncologist

The Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences (http://radonc.ucsd.edu) within the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is seeking a physician faculty Radiation Oncologist at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to join a growing team of radiation oncologists, medical physicists and scientists at UCSD Moores Cancer Center, an NCI Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, and its satellite locations in the greater San Diego area.

This position will have the following role and responsibilities:

  • Clinical: Fulfill clinical needs of the department including treatment of various disease sites and satellite coverage, as needed, and engage with other physicians in providing multi-disciplinary care and participate in tumor boards. Candidate must maintain appropriate credentialing relevant to her/his clinical area of expertise.
  • Education: Provide training and education of UCSD radiation oncology residents, visiting radiation oncology residents, medical students, and visiting radiation oncology professionals.
  • Service: Participate in committees at the departmental, cancer center, university, local, and/or national level, as appropriate.
  • Professional Development: Maintenance of applicable medical licenses, board certification, and institutional training requirements as required by UCSD. Continued professional development and integration of new treatment techniques and protocols supported by evidence based medicine principles.
  • Research: Engage in a program of scholarly activity, including pursuit of intramural and extramural funding sources to support original research in the field of radiation oncology.

Candidate must have an MD (with or without PhD or Masters), a current or be eligible for a California Medical license, and be Board eligible or Board certified by the American Board of Radiology.

Candidate must have a demonstrated track record of multiple publications in leading medical journals as first author and/or significant extramural funding. Candidate must have demonstrated mastery of research methods sufficient to function as principal investigator of investigative pre-clinical and/or clinical research protocols, as evidenced by an accompanying advanced degree in a correlated scientific discipline (e.g. Ph.D. or Master's degree), or other strong evidence of ability to function as an independent investigator (e.g., senior authored publications, PI of an extramural grant, etc.).

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales and subject to the departmental compensation plan. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
