Assistant/Associate Director Development - Engineering Development, University




This job will be an Assistant/Associate Director depending on the experience of the candidate.


Tufts University School of Engineering (SOE) is educating the next generation of engineering leaders who are developing bold solutions to 21 st century challenges. Tufts is in the midst of our most ambitious campaign to date the $1.5 billion Brighter World campaign and the SOE is looking for a creative, committed, and entrepreneurial fundraiser to help us achieve continued success.

This role allows you to create, deepen, and solidify philanthropic relationships with SOE alumni, parents, and friends. You will manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, focusing on specific domestic areas. Extensive travel is expected for this role to give you the necessary time to implement philanthropic strategies, identify new SOE donors, and ensure relationships are properly managed.

The SOE fundraising team embodies the best of Tufts University Advancement open, collaborative, and dedicated. In this role, you will work independently and in partnership with our annual giving, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, and other fundraisers.

Our work is donor-centric, and metric driven, requiring an individual who is highly motivated, entrepreneurial, charismatic, and professional, just like our SOE donors.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor s Degree and 3-5 years (assistant director) or 5-7 years (associate director) fundraising experience in higher education, healthcare or another non-profit setting or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Develop, plan, and implement philanthropic strategies for an assigned portfolio of prospects in collaboration with the Senior Director of Development and other UA partners.
  • Create philanthropic relationships with new and existing SOE alumni, parents, and friends who demonstrate capacity and affinity to engage with the SOE.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Creative thinker to identify potentials prospects, secure visits, and properly connect philanthropic desires with Tufts needs.
  • Strong communicator who will prepare briefings, proposals, and support materials for Deans and university leadership.
  • Team player who will collaborate with fellow UA fundraisers on maximizing philanthropic opportunities for Tufts.
