Duties and Responsibilities
Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Computer Science invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity for the academic year 2019-2020, beginning August 12, 2019. The department is based at Loyola s Lake Shore Campus on Chicago s far north side and comprises ten tenure-track/tenured faculty; three tenure-track/tenured joint appointees; and three lecturers. The department serves approximately 400 undergraduate majors, 80 minors, and 135 masters students in the areas of computer science, bioinformatics, cybersecurity, information technology, and software engineering. Teaching responsibilities include introductory courses in computer science and advanced courses related to the candidate s areas of expertise. The development of new courses in the candidate s area of expertise is encouraged. Applicants will also pursue an active program of research and engage in department, college, and university service as requested. Besides teaching and conducting their own professional research, the candidate is also expected to involve undergraduate and graduate students in research. Candidates with cybersecurity background will teach topics in security and privacy and are expected to be involved in cybersecurity club and mentoring students to participate in regional and national cybersecurity competitions.

Qualifications
By the start of the academic year (2019-2020), candidates must possess a PhD degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline. They also must have strong records in both research and teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. We encourage candidates in all areas of computer science/engineering to apply, but especially welcome candidates with a strong background in cybersecurity and privacy, including all relevant technical areas: cryptography, hardware security, security economics, usability of security, software security, network and cloud security, forensics, and privacy. The candidate should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
