Program Coordinator, Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation

Job Summary

Columbus State University has an opening for a Program Coordinator in the Office of the Provost. This position will work under the Columbus State University Principal Investigator/Program Manager of a National Science Foundation Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program award. This position will assist in the operational aspect of the LSAMP Program at CSU; will coordinate with LSAMP partner institutions on the behalf of the Alliance; and will assist with recruitment and annual progress reports which includes collecting and filling reports of LSAMP Alliance program members. This position is funded by a grant award from the National Science Foundation Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation Program and will be held as long as funding is available.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Program Manager with coordination of CSU LSAMP Program activities (i.e. recruitment, student and faculty training, workshops and research symposiums, summer camps, and other project related duties); providing holistic advising and problem solving to students; developing and maintaining appropriate student records; working collaboratively with other offices to serve student needs, including but not limited to, the Office of Diversity Programs and Services, Enrollment Services, the Counseling Center, and the Center for Accommodation and Access; interacting with faculty and administration to enhance advisement for students and develop co-curriculum experiential learning opportunities; attending professional development conferences that will prepare and enhance academic advising skills with minority students; visiting LSAMP partner institutions and connecting to such partners via distance technology; coordinating, developing, and maintaining the LSAMP Program website; assisting the Program Manager in establishing policies and procedures for the LSAMP Program and with data collection and reporting, which includes collaborating with the Alliance LSAMP personnel at partner institutions, internal and external evaluators, collecting and maintaining quarterly progress reports, and confidential files relating to the Alliance; planning, organizing, and delivering the Alliance's annual research symposiums/workshops in collaboration with campus coordinators and oversee the conference's logistics to include coordinating surveys for post-conference evaluation; and all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree (Master's degree is preferred) in a related discipline (STEM preferred) and two to five years' of progressively responsible relevant project management experience that includes planning, execution, evaluation, and reporting. The successful candidate must have experience in coordinating multi-institutional projects for underrepresented minorities; effective communication; excellent technical writing, organizational, and planning skills; competence with digital communication technologies, including social media networking and e-newsletter distributing; a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with external grant and contract management; a demonstrated ability to work with complex projects including data reporting and analysis; excellent customer services skills; and the ability to travel.

Proposed Salary

The salary is commensurate with education and experience.
