Associate Director for Housing and Residence Life

Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports the development of a comprehensive, holistic residence life program for approximately 1,200 students by utilizing best practices in student development and research to create engaging, learning environments.

Manages operations for maintenance and custodial processes for residential communities.

Manage relationships with Housing vendors and ensure department needs are being adequately met by services provided.

Responsible for recruitment, selection, professional development, supervision and evaluation of Residence Life Coordinators and Resident Assistant staff.

Manages housing occupancy processes including: housing assignment/contracting, room assignments and changes, student account billing, recruitment of new/returning students to housing, early arrival housing etc.

Develops, coordinates, and administers a programming model that supports the educational, personal and social growth and development of residential students. Collaborates with offices across campus to support co-programming.

Provides oversight of the Housing Management system (StarRez) to include staff training, process auditing and general troubleshooting.

Supports the implementation of effective policies, protocols, processes, and structures that ensure the health, safety, security, and welfare of students; provides crisis and risk management on call in rotation with other Housing and Residence Life Staff, responding to campus and student emergencies as needed and serves as a resource in the on-call duty rotation for Residence Life Coordinators.

Serve as an escalation contact for student & parent concerns with facility-related situations and services.

Communicate with the Director of Housing and Residence Life on an ongoing basis with regards to current Residence Life and campus issues and immediately with regard to critical or emergency situations.

As a member of the Campus Services staff, participates in assigned student services functions and programs, and professional development activities.

Other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Housing Management systems, assignments process, and other occupancy related functions
Strong knowledge of student development theory and its application to residence life programming and housing operations
Knowledge of current educational trends, best practices and protocols
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
Interpersonal/human relation skills; including strong conflict resolution skills
Exceptional listening and communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong detail management skills; organizational/planning skills; and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficiency in Microsoft office products
Ability to assemble, analyze, and present data for decision making
Ability to plan, organize, and implement, projects in a timely manner
Ability to work in a collaborative organization, focused on change strategies in our work with students
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to maintain confidentiality
Commitment to supporting the needs of students from underrepresented populations
Proven commitment to providing leadership in enhancing an atmosphere of diversity and inclusion
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Crisis management skills and the ability to make decisions in emergency situations

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Management, Business Administration or related field is required (Master's degree preferred) and five (5) years of demonstrable, progressive experience in a related area. Management/Supervisory experience required. Experience with Housing Management systems is desirable.
