Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Development Coordinator is responsible for programmatic coordination of fundraising activities for the Office of Gift Planning. S/he will provide budget, database, and program support for a team of gift planning fundraising professionals with a demonstrated commitment to customer service. The field of gift planning is a highly specialized area of development and requires a self-starter individual who has excellent organizational skills, works independently, is creative and welcomes professional challenges. Experience to act with discretion and handle confidential donor information is crucial to this position.

This position will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends. And may occasionally need to lift boxes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor's degree required.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of administrative experience, including at least 1 year in development or higher education.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to represent the Executive Director of Gift Planning with campus administrators, staff and donors.
Ability to work without constant direct supervision, utilizing good judgment in prioritizing tasks and making decisions.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matter with discretion and tact.
Ability to utilize software to create and present documents, charts, graphs and spreadsheets.
Collaborative and able to interact effectively with both external and internal audiences and capable of building strong work relationships in a complex environment.
Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends and to respond to short deadlines and assist with special events and other campus activities.
Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High degree of attention to detail.
Able to work with figures and manage budgets.
Strong editing, writing and research skills.
Extremely motivated and highly reliable.
Interpersonal communication skills.

Preferences:

Familiarity with planned giving.
Event experience.
Familiarity with Advance or similar donor database skills.
