Assist the Director of Grounds in management of playing surface, surrounding track, and playing surfaces throughout athletics.

Salary Grade S07
Essential Functions
1. Maintain natural grass and synthetic fields throughout the Athletic Department.
2. Paint logos and mark fields for practice and events with airless paint rigs/aerosol paints.
3. Setup and breakdown playing surfaces for practices and home games.
4. Apply herbicide, plant protectant, and fertility agents throughout facilities and surrounding common areas.
5. Assist coaches and staff with setups of fields for camp activities.
6. Assist other field managers in maintenance of all playing surfaces. Assist in facility preparation and cleanup for departmental events.
7. Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
8. Support mission, vision, and values.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Associate's degree in turf-grass management or related field.
2. Three years of experience in sports turf or golf course maintenance.
3. Thorough knowledge of use and care of various athletic equipment.
4. Personal computer experience.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in turf management or related field.
2. Five or more years of experience in sports turf management.
3. Illinois Department of Natural Resources Pesticide license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
May work in all weather conditions. May work in extreme temperatures. May work around chemical fumes. May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Climbing of stairs, ladders, lifting and moving.
