Assistant Director of Imaging Center

Reports To: Chief Information Officer

Position Type: Full time

Standard Hours: 40 hours / week

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:

Responsible for the overall planning, marketing and execution of all operations and customer service aspects of the Digital Imaging and Mail Center (DIMC) and external Paw Print operations servicing the community. This includes managing all requests, customers' escalations, and vendor relations while ensuring efficient, high quality work. Accountable for fostering community relations and marketing our service offering to local business to increase revenue to the college.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the graphics team with designing and organization of materials for publication.
  • Ensure copy and graphics are appropriately arranged in accordance with Keuka College guidelines and visual best practices. May select font styles, sizes and other elements to enhance overall aesthetics.
  • Assist the Chief Information Officer with all DIMC budget planning and execution exercises.
  • Assist the Chief Information Officer with all strategic development of the DIMC and Paw Print operations.
  • Independently uses their professional discretion to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Responsible for the management and direction of all DIMC employees.
  • Accountable for ensuring that the staff is trained on all devices used in the copy center and follows all procedures.
  • Responsible for all daily operations, including processing of all US mail and interoffice mail including any bulk mailings, daily processing of packages.
  • Accountable for ensuring that jobs submitted from Keuka College faculty, staff, and students are following prescribed SLAs and chargeback parameters.
  • Accountable for escalating equipment problems to vendor, perform minor repairs to xerographic equipment or arranging repair service, operates high volume xerographic equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for all DIMC vendor management and relations with Keuka College.
  • Accountable for managing staff to maintain a perpetual inventory, including standard office supplies and postage, and adequate stock level on a monthly basis of paper and other supplies.
  • Responsible for monthly accounting of records and of copy jobs and shipments for chargeback purposes.
  • Provide excellent customer service with a friendly and willing to assist attitude. Strong background in printing production and work flow. The ability to multi-task, attention to detail, excellent communication skills with follow through, and the ability to work under stressful conditions and deadlines. Create an environment that motivates employees, delegates authority and work responsibilities in order to provide the best opportunities for employees. Model fair and consistent management style giving effective feedback to employees.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree required or 3-5 years' equivalent experience in the Print Management field in a formal or informal leadership capacity.
  2. Working knowledge in applications focusing on the graphics arts and / or 1-2 years' experience with the Adobe Creative Suite product line is preferred.
  3. Technically proficient working with production class printers. Exposure should include daily operation, device capability, and basic hardware troubleshooting.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Experience with marketing and communications.
  6. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  7. Must be able to prioritize and juggle multiple demands and deadlines
  8. Able to work in a multi-task environment.
  9. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  10. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
  11. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  12. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting, bending, standing, climbing, or walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing chemicals, toner dust, vapors, and high noise levels using personal protective safety measures.
  • Some performance of job duties may require travel to branch campus locations, main campus meetings or events, and group orientation sessions.
  • Some evening hours and occasional weekends.
  • Requires lifting of 30 lbs.
