Software Engineer-Research Associate-VTTI

Position Summary:
Perform work developing software for a variety of automated vehicle, data processing, and data acquisition projects. Advance the field of transportation safety through creative solutions to complex software challenges. Independently evaluate, select and apply software design principles, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position or equivalent graduate level educations. Work developing GUI software, scripts, and operating system configurations. Iteratively act in concert with the research team to define project goals and technical specifications; to create/refine project plans and milestones; and to integrate these goals, specifications, and timelines to achieve the overall objective.
Independently perform assignments with instructions on global objectives and general results expected. May supervise/mentor/provide training and coordinate the work of graduate research assistants, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.

Required Qualifications:
-M.S. degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or comparable with exception for a lesser degree with significant related experience.
-Strong knowledge of . NET framework
-Proficient with source control
-Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server
-Must have a strong work ethic and be able to work independently with little supervision.
-Strong writing and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with Linux/DB2 a plus
