Applications are now being accepted for the position of Job Placement Coordinator, assignment beginning Spring 2019.

Major Responsibilities:
Under the direction of a Dean, or assigned manager, the Job Placement Coordinator will develop, implement, and administer a variety of job placement activities for students, including assessment for job readiness and job preparation skills training. This position will lead the job placement functions, with the aim of expanding and improving job placement outcomes for students in the region. This includes recruiting, providing direct support and advisement to students, including information and guidance about requirements of specific occupations; job market trends; proper work habits; preparation to seek employment; and techniques for competing for jobs, including appropriate dress, preparing resumes, and interviewing strategies. The Job Placement Coordinator will ensure that the objectives of the program are being met effectively and efficiently. This includes the development and implementation of marketing plans and strategies for job placement opportunities; utilizing occupational and labor market data regarding information on careers in demand and career clusters, employment prospects and trends, employer requirements and opportunities; coordinating with the regional Duty Sector Navigators to obtain relevant job market trends and requirements for a variety of occupations; and coordinate with career guidance staff to establish students goals and assess readiness for employment. This position will deliver informational presentations and serve as a liaison between the college, employers and community regarding requirements for job placement; and establish collaborative working relationships with other campus program areas in developing and delivering innovative and comprehensive programs and services. The Job Placement Coordinator will also utilize technology to promote job placement; support the job placement website and social media platforms; and support the piloting and implementation of new technology. While the current vacancy exists at San Diego Mesa College, applicants should understand that they are subject to assignment at any District facility at the option of the Chancellor.

Qualifications:
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: Masters Degree in Education, Counseling, Public Administration, Business, or related field and three years of administrative experience in an educational organization or social program that services a similar population or program. The following are also required for this academic/educational administrator assignment:1) One (1) year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrators assignment, AND2) Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.OR1) Two (2) years of recent management experience in an institution of higher education, AND2) Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.

Desired Qualifications:
The successful candidate should demonstrate evidence of: Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and administer a variety of job placement activities for students, including but not limited to assessment for job readiness and job preparation skills training. Demonstrated ability to recruit, provide direct support and advisement to students, including information and guidance about requirements of specific occupations; job market trends; proper work habits; preparation to seek employment; and techniques for competing for jobs, including appropriate dress, preparing resumes, and interviewing strategies. Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver informational presentations to students in various locations and provide work placement information to employers and representatives from the community. Demonstrated ability to utilize technology to promote job placement; support the job placement website and social media platforms. Demonstrated ability to access, analyze, interpret, explain, and present data to various diverse constituency groups regarding occupational and labor market data, including information on careers in demand and career clusters, employment prospects and trends, and employer requirements. Demonstrated knowledge of current and potential computer software available for various research, tracking, reporting, and documentation activities, including business-related word processing, spreadsheets, and databases software. Demonstrated ability to work professionally, collegially and collaboratively with staff, faculty, and employers. Demonstrated ability to professionally represent San Diego Mesa College in local, regional, state, and community activities related to job placement. Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills including both verbal and written communication. Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

Licenses:


Pay Information:
Range 10 ($4,904.40 $8,188.09) per month based on the current Supervisory and Professional Employees Association Salary Schedule A.

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the SPAA Supervisory & Professional Administrators Association Handbook. This position is FLSA exempt and may not accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
