COORDINATOR OF INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY & ONLINE LEARNING

 

Virginia Western Community College, a two-year public institution of higher education located on a 70-acre campus in Roanoke, VA, is accepting applications for the Coordinator of Instructional Technology & Online Learning. This 12-month professional faculty position reports to the Dean of Learning Resources and is responsible for advancing the goals and objectives of the Instructional Technology and Online Learning department by providing leadership in the areas of online learning, faculty development, and instructional technology. The Coordinator provides College-level leadership for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of online learning initiatives, aligning the direction and vision of online learning with the college's strategic goals. This position organizes and delivers college-wide faculty training and development services that support effective teaching and learning, as well as promotes student-centered learning environments through the innovative uses of technology.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED: Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or related field. Experience in higher education leadership and management experience to include supervision, performance evaluation, budget management, program planning, academic assessment, project management, etc. Significant experience in online instruction, instructional design, and teaching with technology. Experience applying or utilizing a quality assurance system for online learning that includes recognized standards, such as Quality Matters. Significant experience delivering workplace training and/or professional development. Strong presentation skills. Demonstrated excellence in leading projects that involve collaboration with various stakeholders. Ability to use high emotional intelligence and collaboration skills to build and maintain strong working relationships. Solid understanding of and commitment to student centered approaches in higher education. Attention to detail and excellent technical abilities, as well as strong written and oral communication skills. Professionalism, as well as strong customer service and problem-solving skills.

DESIRED: Experience with Learning Management System (LMS) administration. Experience with accreditation process in regards to online courses and programs. Experience designing non-academic program assessments. Knowledge of principles of universal design that promote accessibility to electronic learning environments.
