Central Plant Operator

A Full-Time Classified Represented Position

Position Description:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Facilities Planning, Operations  & Construction and under the work direction of the Facilities Coordinator (Central Energy Services), the position is primarily responsible for the maintenance of the District’s Automated Logic EMS System. The Maintenance Worker IV also performs a variety of skilled work in the maintenance, repair and alteration of district buildings, facilities and fixtures including carpentry and tile, painting, plastering, plumbing, heating/air conditioning and electrical trades work.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Experience:

Six (6) years of full-time experience as a journeyman in the air conditioning and heating field to include hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of a central plant.  Experience as a building maintenance mechanic or as a skilled worker in one or more building maintenance trades. Experience with energy management systems and refrigeration equipment.

 

Education:

High school diploma or the equivalent completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by the completion of an approved apprenticeship program in the air conditioning and heating trade.

 

Licenses:

Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver's license. Possession and renewal of any professional certificates or licenses required to perform the duties of the position.
