Full Stack Application Developers (UCP 7,9,10)


The University of Connecticut (UConn), Analytics and Information Management Solutions (AIMS) group ( http://aims.uconn.edu ) is seeking to hire Full Stack Application Developers (Operating System Programmer/Analyst 2, 3, 4), UCP 7,9,10.

These positions will provide technical support on our Health IT initiatives, where the individuals will create, maintain, and test code, along with designing mobile portal front-ends and back-ends. These positions will provide view/presentation, business logic, and data back-end programming along with quality improvements, using various models and methods to measure and analyze clinical, claims, and administrative data. These positions are located at the downtown Hartford campus.

UConn AIMS, working with the State of CT's Office of Health Strategy (OHS), is leading the design, development, and implementation of the Core Data Analytics Solution (CDAS), which will leverage leading-edge technologies to curate, process, and enhance large amounts of healthcare data to fuel the analytics to support state-wide healthcare initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Design and write enterprise strength Java and/or C# code and database queries.
  2. Design, develop, implement, and maintain a reusable software component.
  3. Complete application architecture design and implementation.
  4. Exercise a solid understanding of the MVC architectural pattern.
  5. Apply User Interface (UI) implementation and mobile styling.
  6. Use SCM systems, particularly Git/Bitbucket.
  7. Create and consume RESTful APIs securely and efficiently.
  8. Drive application and feature development from wireframes and specifications to a tested, working product.
  9. Develop applications, APIs, and associated life cycle deliverables using the Agile SDLC.
  10. Perform all the steps required to design, test, and code applications.
  11. Develop procedures, documentation, and operating instructions and successfully move programs into production.
  12. Attend training and further professional development to learn and implement new technologies and languages.
  13. Participate effectively as a team member using an efficient self-paced approach when working in a startup environment.
  14. Stay current with technology changes and integrate software and hardware where applicable and when appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and training and a minimum of two (2) years of highly technical relevant experience.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of development experience in Java and/or C#, and Javascript frameworks, such as AngularJs and/or React.
  3. Minimum of two (2) years of experience building client-facing and publicly-deployed web applications.
  4. Solid understanding of Object Oriented programming.
  5. Experience with build and deployment tools, such as Maven/Nuget, Gradle, and Git/Bitbucket.
  6. Experience building and/or interacting with web services including RESTful and SOAP.
  7. Experience building secure applications and knowledge of options for authentication, authorization, encryption, and other security considerations.
  8. Ability to proactively identify technical issues and risks and develop alternative techniques and/or solutions.
  9. Ability to work independently as well as with team members, collaboratively utilizing excellent verbal and written communication skills, teaching skills, organizational, and analytical skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience delivering technology-based solutions following Agile/SCRUM SDLC.
  2. Experience with Visual Studio and/or Eclipse.
  3. Experience with Azure cloud platform.
  4. Experience integrating with Tableau or other data visualization/analysis tools
  5. Experience with Liferay and/or portal application development.
  6. Extensive UX/UI development and design.
  7. Extensive application security knowledge, including authentication and authorization experience using OAuth2 / OpenID Connect.
  8. Working knowledge of web design, caching techniques, and performance optimizations.
  9. Experience with mobile application development
  10. Extensive database experience including Relational DBMS, NoSQL and big data technologies such as Hadoop and Hive
  11. Current knowledge of industry trends and innovations that can be applied to projects
  12. Understanding of various healthcare formats and reference data sets, such as, HL7, claims, eCQMs, drug/pharmacy, clinical notes, lab result.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

These are full-time, grant-funded positions that are subject to annual renewal depending on available funding and job performance. The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Salary and position level will be commensurate on the successful candidate's experience and training. Work location is at the Hartford campus.
