Job Summary

Columbus State University has an opening for a Utility Worker II. This position is manual work involving unskilled and limited semi-skilled duties.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: routine laboring tasks; setting up scaffolding and ladders; cleaning work tools; running errands; cleaning and preparing work area; loading and delivering materials; transporting and using a variety of tools and machines to complete work orders; occasionally assist carpenters, electricians, HVAC technicians, and plumbers; perform routine preventative maintenance and necessary upkeep and repairs on system equipment, facilities, and grounds; and all other related duties as assigned. The successful candidate may also be called upon to control traffic including setting up markers, cones, and barricades and may flag vehicles to control traffic flow.

Required Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); supplemented by skilled worker experience in maintenance or as a helper to a journeyman; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. The selected candidate must possess the ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instruction; possess the ability to operate light trucks and related equipment; the ability to use a variety of standard hand tools; possess a valid Driver's License; and possess excellent communication skills.

The selected candidate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, various weather conditions, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

Proposed Salary

The annualized salary range for this position is $23,562 - $27,000.
