Financial Education Program Associate

Position Summary:
The Arlington Unit of Virginia Cooperative Extension seeks an individual to assist with the management and implementation of their financial education program. Will coordinate, one on one, the financial counseling program by screening clients and pairing clients with volunteer mentors. Recruit and train new Master Financial Education Volunteers, coordinate financial classes and other related duties. The person in this position will abide by all non-discrimination and civil rights policies of Virginia Cooperative Extension when serving the Arlington and Alexandria communities. This is a part-time and temporary position. It will average 20-29 hours/week. This is restricted position with and end date of June 30, 2019; extension of this appointment is contingent on future funding.

Required Qualifications:
Experience working or volunteering with financial education programs: teaching personal finance and money management classes and/or conducting one-on-one financial counseling. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience and skills in using social media in a professional context.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to speak and write Spanish.
Experience managing volunteers.
Familiarity with service providers and county and city agencies in Arilington and Alexandria.
