Job Description:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Completion Specialist for Completion Services will assist the Director of Academic Support Services and the Associate Director of LAC & Completion Services with implementing the college's strategic plans related to Academic Support Services and Ambiciones. This person will coordinate interventions for students on academic warning, probation and suspension, as well as coordinate all aspects of the Ambiciones Program, including budget and scholarship oversight. For duties related to Ambiciones, this person will report to the Director of Academic Support.This person will directly supervise part-time Completion Advisors, the Ambiciones Completion Specialist; train staff on processes for working with students on academic warning and inputting information in the academic standing database; provide academic advising; assist students with creating academic plans; and assist with the early alert program
WORK PERFORMED
- Coordinate interventions for academic warning, probation and suspension
- Assist with development, implementation, and monitoring of program reviews for academic standing and the Ambiciones program students
- Supervises and trains part-time Completion Advisors and Completion Specialist for Ambiciones; coordinates program activities with part time Ambiciones completion specialist.
- Develop workshops to promote inclusion, multicultural engagement and social justice for Hispanic/Latino student success
- Advise students on academic warning, probation, and suspension, athletes, and students flagged for early alerts
- Work with financial aid to assist students with understanding financial aid rules and regulations.
- Set criteria for receiving Ambiciones scholarships and foundation funds and reviews requests for financial assistance
- Coordinates with research office for annual assessment of the program
- Collects and maintains data on Ambiciones students' services provided, academic status, retention and graduation
- Develops and maintains Ambiciones webpage and all promotional material in both Spanish and English.
- Advocate for Hispanic/Latino students within the college community; provides faculty and staff with professional development and diversity training on various retention strategies used in working with the Latino population.
- Provide budgetary oversight for the Ambiciones budget and monitors expenditures
- Collaborate with key college personnel to develop and implement academic success strategies
- Collaborate with organizations serving the Hispanic/Latino community
- Conduct workshops on academic success strategies for students, faculty, and staff
Supervision
Supervises part-time Completion Specialist for Ambiciones and part-time Completion Advisors for Completion Services
Requirements:
- Master's degree required, preferably in student development
- Must be bilingual/bicultural in English/Spanish
- At least two years of experience working in advising, retention, or counseling within a college setting, community college experience preferred
- Knowledge of current student success strategies
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to prepare, compile, write and review reports
- Excellent computer skills
Additional Information:
Hours Per Week: 37.5
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm
Compensation: $59,937 plus excellent health benefits, tuition reimbursement and paid leav.
Grade: 15
