Job Description:
Performs duties of a teacher or teacher aide to provide continuity of day-to-day responsibilities with young children 3 months - 4 years old during the absence of the regular teacher or teacher aide. Substitute teachers/ aides are employed on an as needed, on-call, day-to-day basis and are not guaranteed work on a regular basis.
Additional Duties:
- Provides instruction according to plans as prepared by the regular classroom teacher.
- Helps to manage the classroom behaviors and environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor or administrator
- Uses appropriate judgment to act in the best interests of children at all times
- Maintains a classroom environment which promotes active learning
- Maintains daily classroom routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, setting up meals, closing down a classroom, light cleaning, etc.
- Attends mandatory meetings and trainings
Requirements:
- Must have experience working with infants and/ or preschool children
- 90 hour certificate preferred
- 45 hour certificate preferred
*A criminal background check will be required for this position.
Additional Information:
Hours Per Week: on call, possible 20 hours a week
Work Schedule: possible schedule 7:15am - 6pm
Compensation: $10.10 per hour
Grade: hourly/temporary
