Job Summary

Eastern Washington University is currently seeking a Director of Equal Opportunity. This position reports to the AVP for Civil Rights, Compliance & Enterprise Risk Management.with the primary purpose of administering the equal opportunity, affirmative action program, reviewing and investigating complaints of discrimination, and generating reports, conducting training, and bringing awareness to and advising the campus on affirmative action issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or other advanced degree by date of hire

  • Must have three or more years investigating, litigating, managing and/or responding to employment or discrimination claims, including preparation of written investigative reports

  • Must have excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Must have the ability to maintain professional and collaborative interactions with other staff and university constituents

  • Strong computer skills to facilitate preparation of written and statistical reports, including proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite and ability to maintain a website (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Must have excellent organizational skills to ensure that multiple pending investigations and other work duties are completed in a timely manner

  • Must have the ability to understand and comply with rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidance.

  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, diversity, and inclusion.




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience as a director of equal opportunity/affirmative action

  • Professional work experience in higher education relevant to equal opportunity/affirmative action

  • Professional experience providing training

  • Professional experience and/or training as a mediator

  • Professional experience with legal and/or administrative proceedings

  • Must have the ability to remain objective and fair in the course of investigatory and other work assignments
