Assistant Professor of Spanish

Position Summary:
Assistant Professor of Spanish. Tenure-track. Standard teaching load of 2-2. Primary job responsibilities include: teach undergraduate and graduate courses within the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures in Spanish and English. Will specialize in courses on the literature and culture and visual arts of the Southern Cone. Will advise students, serve on committees, perform professional service and maintain an active research agenda. Research focus will be on 20th and 21st century Latin American literature and culture.

Required Qualifications:
PhD in Spanish by time of appointment. Specialization in Southern Cone literature and visual arts. Evidence of excellence in scholarship and teaching and of potential for the development and maintenance of a nationally or internationally recognized research program. Ability to teach a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Spanish and English. Occasional travel to attend professional conferences and meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference given to candidates who have experience mentoring and/or working with diverse groups.
