Research Technician - Department of Chemistry, School of Arts and Sciences

This is a 1-2 year limited term position.

The Tufts University Chemistry Department provides an exciting and intellectually stimulating environment for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in cutting edge research projects that encompass the many diverse interests of the faculty and reflects the highly interdisciplinary nature of chemistry and modern scientific research. While drawing heavily on the traditional chemistry subdisciplines, and assuring a well ground expertise in the fundamentals, we also provide the opportunity to explore beyond the traditional boundaries, from nano to planetary scales and atomic to biomolecular complexity. The Kritzer lab uses peptides to solve vital chemical and biomedical problems. Peptides are discovered, developed and applied using cross-disciplinary approaches including genetics, cell biology, organic synthesis, structural biology and biophysical chemistry.

Under close supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician conducts a variety of routine experiments following established procedures and protocols, which may include performing assays, tissue culture, electrophoresis, and other laboratory techniques. May also record test results, analyze data using basic statistics, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and monitor and maintain cell culture lines.

The Kritzer Lab at Tufts University Department of Chemistry seeks a motivated individual for a 1-2 year Research Technician position. Responsibilities will include maintaining instrumentation, peptide and small molecule synthesis, and may expand to include cell culture work. Some organic chemistry and analytical chemistry lab experience (teaching or research lab) required. Start date for full-time work will be as soon as possible
