To provide advanced network engineering support to the University's network environment ensuring reliable, secure, and robust network communication systems. Support includes planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining network communication systems (routing, switching and data center technologies).

Considerable knowledge of data communication concepts, topologies, protocols, routing and switching technologies, to include wireless infrastructure support. Considerable knowledge of network design, administration, operations and management. Considerable knowledge of networking requirements for servers and storage platforms. Demonstrated ability to interact with vendors and co-workers. Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage time. Effective communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with new leading edge technology with minimal assistance and prior knowledge. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to provide technical and project leadership to other staff members. In most cases these knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Level and type of experience
Considerable experience with routing, switching, and data center networking technologies. Considerable experience with project management.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field, or training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree. Cisco Certified Network Professional ( CCNP ) and/or Cisco Certified Network Associate ( CCNA ) certifications or equivalent knowledge. Familiarity with Public Cloud Networking concepts and configuration.
Conditions of Employment
40 hour work week Monday-Friday; some evenings and weekends; rotating on call.
This position is designated as sensitive. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate.
