The Department of Literature (https://literature.ucsd.edu) invites applications for an experienced Associate Teaching Professor (officially termed Lecturer with Security of Employment) in Creative Writing with specialties in one or more of the following areas: Speculative Writing, Experimental Forms, Digital Writing, Translation, Gaming, Editing, Multimedia, Humor, Screenwriting, Essay, Film.

The successful candidate will serve as a core member of our Writing faculty and will be expected to teach primarily at the undergraduate level, with occasional teaching in the MFA program. Applicants should be able to teach all genres (fiction, poetry, nonfiction) of our large format introductory writing courses (the 8 a/b/c series). In addition to teaching, the candidate will contribute to leadership within the Writing section.

We welcome applicants with demonstrated excellence in teaching to make contributions at all levels of a robust undergraduate program that emphasizes cross-genre and experimentation as the work of exploring a diverse intersectionality across artistic disciplines and cultural identities. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with students on individual and collaborative writing projects at multiple levels.

Required Qualifications: MFA or PhD in Creative Writing with college-level teaching experience in creative writing and successful record of publication required.

Additional Qualifications: Priority will be given to candidates with at least one book.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates will have ample experience in the arena of equity and diversity, such as leadership in teaching, mentoring, research or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly and artistic environment and programs that foster inclusion and access for historically underrepresented groups.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications based on University of California pay scales. Proof of authorization to work in the U.S. will be required prior to employment (Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1985).
