The Department of Emergency Medicine (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/emergency-med/Pages/default.aspx) at the University of California San Diego, committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body, is initiating a search for faculty who have a clinical and research focus in hyperbaric medicine.

The UCSD Hyperbaric Medicine Division is proud to announce the Ted and Michelle Gurnee Endowed Chair of Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine Research. This appointee would also be awarded the Ted and Michelle Gurnee Endowed Chair of Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine Research endowment. The center is the only civilian 24-hour emergency treatment center in San Diego, Imperial, Orange or Riverside Counties. At the Hyperbaric Medicine Center, approximately 2,000 patients are treated per year including those with diving related injuries.

The Division of Hyperbaric Medicine is recruiting a full-time faculty member with an established record of research success in either Hyperbaric or Diving Medicine. Responsibilities will consist of leading the Division's research program in hyperbaric, diving, and undersea medicine research; training fellows, residents, and students; and clinical duties as appropriate.

Candidates must have an MD or PhD with an emphasis relevant to Internal Medicine or be MD/PhD. Candidates with an MD must have California medicine license/eligibility and be board certification/eligibility in Emergency Medicine.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
